Today, maritime infrastructures (dykes, piers, docks, spikes, anchorages, etc.) are neither designed nor built with the aim of improving and protecting ecosystems in mind. The Marineff project aims to develop marine infrastructure to improve the ecological state of coastal waters along the English Channel.
The project aims to build new biomimetic infrastructures to improve the ecological status in France and Great Britain, as well as to involve professionals and stakeholders in the project.
The MERSEA Laboratory (formerly BOREA-CAEN) is involved in the design and monitoring of eco-designed seawall modules submerged in the Bay of Seine and the Harbor of Cherbourg, as well as in the monitoring of “rock pools” in the port of Ouistreham. Particular emphasis has been placed on monitoring producers and primary production.
