Ecotoxicological and ecological researches in aquatic environments:
– Studies of the impact of contaminants (trace metals, pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, PCBs, body care products) on : 1) embryo-larval stages and metamorphosis of marine bivalves (embryotoxicity); 2) juveniles or adults of various marine molluscs using a battery of biomarkers at different levels of organization of living organisms: biomarkers i) molecular (expression levels of genes of interest); ii) biochemical (activity of enzymes involved in detoxification and regulation of oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, status of energy reserves); iii) cellular (immunotoxicity, dynamics of the lysosomal system, etc.); iv) individual (reprotoxicity, histopathology…) (in situ, in vivo and in vitro approaches).
– Studies on the impact of elements released by galvanic anodes and impressed current used to protect port structures and ship hulls against corrosion on marine organisms.
– Research dealing with the quality of water masses and environments using active or passive biomonitoring along the land-sea gradient (Mytilopsis leucophaeata in freshwater and transitional waters).
– Study of the biology and ecology of the shrimp, Palaemon serratus, in Normandy, and effect of copper and climate change in this species (in situ and in vivo approaches).
– Studies of alien species that are potentially invasive and/or induce biofouling in highly anthropized ecosystems such as marinas; the case of the polychaete annelid Ficopomatus enigmaticus in Normandy and the Rangia cuneata in the Ouistreham area.
– Spatial and temporal monitoring of oyster (Crassostrea gigas), marine mussel (Mytilus edulis) or brackish/freshwater mussel (Mytilopsis leucophaeata, an invasive species) populations: relationships with hydrological parameters (collaboration with LERN, IFREMER Port-en-Bessin), contamination level (collaboration with LABEO Caen) and biological performances (survival, growth and quality of bivalves, reproduction, stress levels) (in situ approach).
