Upcoming MERSEA missions from March 20 to 27, 2026

Morning of Thursday, March 19:
Mission to install instrumentation on the NormandSea vessel in Ouistreham to prepare for the EOL’REEF campaign at the beginning of next week. Staff: Richard Farizon, Léo Chasselin, and Maël Deloor.

Friday, March 20:
Field mission with Jérémy Benhamou, Wendy Diruit, and Anne-Marie Rusig on the foreshore of Saint-Aubin for a “Calvados foreshore seaweed collection.”

Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24:
An EOL’REEF campaign (Reef effect of offshore wind farms on primary production & the first links of the trophic network – Process studies and monitoring at sub-mesoscale).
As a reminder, the EOL’REEF research project takes place in a context of strong anthropogenic pressure (Manche), which is subject to multiple environmental stresses. The main objective of the project is to assess the reef effect induced by submerged wind turbine structures and to analyze its consequences. Staff: Pascal Claquin, Clara Massinot, Maël Deloor, Richard Farizon, Léo Chasselin, Maxime Navon.

Week of March 23:

Visit to the Normandy Isotope Platform (PLATIN’) by Maeva Cotroneo, used for the analysis of stable isotopes of nitrogen, carbon, and sulfur, as well as for non-destructive elemental analysis of samples with high concentrations (> ppm), including chlorine, aluminum, and silicon.

Wednesday, March 25 to Friday, March 27:
SNO PHYTOBS days in Lorient with Pascal Claquin, professor. PHYTOBS is a National Observation Service (SNO) for microphytoplankton deployed along mainland French coasts and supported by Ifremer, CNRS, and Marine Universities.

Friday, March 27:
Mission aboard a vessel in Courseulles-sur-Mer led by Mr. Joël Henry, professor and scientific coordinator of this mission, as part of a biological material collection through targeted cuttlefish fishing using jigs. Staff: Nathan Morandi, Maureen Pred’homme.
