In order to help answer these questions, I seek to understand the role of DNA methylation, RNA methylation, and more generally, the chemical modifications of nucleic acids and their regulators, in a distant model, the oyster Crassostrea (Magallana) gigas. My research activities focus on understanding and describing epigenetic and epitranscriptomic mechanisms involved in the regulation of gene expression/chromatin structure during cell differentiation and the regulation of its physiology. To achieve this, I am interested in embryo development, as well as reproduction (particularly in triploid oysters), processes that implement significant phenotypic changes in a context of different exposure/sensitivity to environmental parameters. For this work, I primarily use molecular, cellular, and biochemical approaches, including high-throughput methodologies (NGS and NNGS – Nanopore/MeDIP/MeRIP/BS-seq…) and develop in vivo functional studies.
