My PhD research aims to investigate the migration of the common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) in the English Channel through the hypothesis of “homing”, or philopatry. This term refers to the tendency of certain individuals to return to their place of birth to reproduce. To investigate this phenomenon, we will use a multi-criteria approach combining genetic, transcriptomic, and microchemical analyses, as well as environmental DNA (eDNA). In the longer term, this project aims to investigate the impact of electromagnetic fields emitted by offshore wind farms in the English Channel on cuttlefish migration. Finally, the PHILOSEPIA PhD project is part of the broader MOBIDIC project.
